Phil’s career reflects his lifelong passion for education and its ability to transform students’ lives. He is Founder and CEO of Quad Learning. Quad Learning is a passionate, mission-driven organization focused on developing collaborative partnerships with leading US higher education institutions to drive the enrollment growth of high-achieving students, to enhance student outcomes, and to develop global citizens.

Prior to co-founding Quad Learning he was a General Partner with Novak Biddle Venture Partners, a venture capital firm with a focus on investments in education. Over the course of his career 15 year career he led 16 investments including: 2U (TWOU), Infoblox (BLOX), AddThis, SolidFire (Acquired by NetApp), Webs (Acquired by Vistaprint), Fidelis College, Vision Chain, Approva (Acquired by Infor),  LifeShield Security (acquired by DirectTV), ClearStandards (Acquired by SAP), Social Gaming Network, Logic Library (Acquired by SOA Software) and UniversityNow. In addition, Phil’s past board observer seats include:N.E.W. Customer Service Companies, AnswerLogic (acquired by Primus Knowledge Systems) and Spectrum K12. Prior to joining Novak Biddle he served as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co. in New York advising high-tech clients on corporate strategy and worked as a software engineer at IBM.

Phil has been named one of Washington, D.C. area's 100 "Tech Titans" and Phil earned a BS in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University; a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Law; and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Phil currently serves on the Alumni Advisory Board for Carnegie Mellon’s School of Computer Science and Georgetown Day School a Private School in based in Washington DC.
