We offer a community college honors program like no other
Pierce College offers American Honors, a competitive community college honors program with a difference. While the program will challenge you academically, it will also provide you with the tools and one-to-one support to succeed in academics – and in life.
American Honors program graduates emerge as independent thinkers and effective leaders, stepping into successful careers or continuing on to top-tier four-year colleges and universities across the country.
We’ll prepare you for the rigors of the best four-year colleges in Washington – or anywhere else
American Honors didn’t invent the concept. Many students use community college as a steppingstone to a four-year degree. But they came up with a new approach. An honors education that will prepare you for the rigors of a four-year college. Supportive advisors who will work with you to establish a transfer strategy from day one. An innovative social learning platform that helps you plan, track, and assess your progress. And a growing network of four-year colleges and universities that actively recruit program graduates – and, in some cases, guarantee admission. In just two short years, American Honors program graduates have been accepted at Stanford, Cornell, University of Michigan and other top-tier schools.
Of course, if your dream school isn’t in the American Honors Network, we’ll do everything we can to help you transfer there.
The program helps control overall college costs
By spending your first two years at Pierce College – earning a top-tier education at a fraction of the cost – you’ll save a significant amount when compared to the cost of attending a four-year institution right away.
Your honors advisor will help you make smart decisions every step of the way. He or she will work with you to determine the specific transfer requirements of the schools you've targeted, so you can take only the most transferable credits during your time at community college.
The American Honors program is currently offered at both Pierce campuses - Fort Steilacoom and Puyallup
