Biography: Statistics is my favorite class to teach! Our world is exploding with statistics. For example: the media has constant bias to promote a reaction; businesses abuse statistics to gain profit; and the health industry relies heavily on statistical data and studies to improve care. Statistics is all around us! What is so awesome about taking a Statistics class is having the ability to be more aware and question the statistics that are presented. We will deeply explore and extend the foundation of statistics through applications that are relevant in our world.
A little about me…. I graduated with an M.A. in Math- emphasis in Statistics from University of Montana (Go GRIZ!!!) and was hired as the sole math instructor at a Native American College (Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, MT). After getting married, we moved to Casper, WY, and I taught at Casper College. Wanting to get back to the Northwest after my 2 sons were born, we were very fortunate when my husband was offered job transfer to Spokane. My boys are in high school now, and I have been teaching at SCC for 15 years. My 2nd job is teaching group fitness at local health clubs and also working as a personal trainer. Helping others with health and fitness is my passion. I teach a variety of classes (cycle, TRX, Insanity, bootcamp, pilates, yoga, step aerobics, core strength) and have been teaching for 25 years. It is a necessary part of my life and keeps me “sane”. I encourage every person to do some kind of activity - every day. It clears your mind and makes your body strong to cope and manage the ups and downs in life. :)
