Biography:Daniel received his Bachelors degree in Anthropology from Ball State University in 1991, and a Master of Science in Education from Indiana University in Fort Wayne 2001. While at Ball State he took percussion performance classes and developed an interest in non-traditional instruments, as wells as becoming well versed on drum set, and mallet instruments.
In 1992 he became a permanent member of the Chicago based world beat ensemble Roots Rock Society. Daniel has also been involved in numerous Jazz projects and ensembles including his own avant garde ensemble The Experimental Music Workshop.
In Fort Wayne he has been involved in various educational programs since 1992 including school workshops and clinics, YMCA teen leadership camps, artist in residence programs at Memorial Park Middles School and Snider High School. In 1999 he received a grant from Carlos Santana's Milagro foundation to develop a music program at the MAYA (Multicultural Advisory on Youth Alternatives) unity center. From 2001-2004 he taught courses in sociology, jazz history, race and ethnicity, world music, art, and psychology at the Richard Milburn School.
He currently is associate professor in sociology and Co-Chair of the Globalization Committee at Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne and is a member of the American Sociological Association. He lives in Fort Wayne with his four year old son Miles.
