English and Humanities Professor, Jackson College
Phi Theta Kappa Chapter (Alpha Rho Lambda) Advisor, Jackson College
Chair of American Honors Faculty Advisory Council, Jackson College

Born in southern Ohio at the meeting of the Ohio and Scioto Rivers, I love the shimmer and swelter of summer heat, the shimmer and swelter of students’ journeying through rivers of study and the pursuit of their dreams. I delight in music, dancing, writing poetry and memoir, and the smiles of my students as they discovery that academic challenges are rewarding and that learning is built from framing what is known with what is new. My students have varied in both age and discipline—creative movement with children and ballet and modern dance with teens, jazz with Adrian College and JC students. I teach writing, literature, and humanities to dual-enrolled high school students, to inmates, to both traditional and non-traditional students in Jackson College classrooms, on-line and face-to-face. After 36 years of college teaching, I am excited and honored to begin this newest of voyages with the American Honors Program. I hope to work closely with you, the American Honors students. Not only do I want to help you build strong leadership skills, I want to be inspired by your curiosity and creativity.
